what a load of crap. i am currently giving up smoking after 42 years of it. No smoker who is addicted to nicotine can give up by simply saying i'll put this off by 5 minutes each time the urge for some nicotine comes along. i'd have been looking at my cigarette pack while waitig for the 5 minutes to be up. Wake up buddy, you are dreaming

Kyle I hit six months last week and am still a minute away I feel from grabbing one lol! It was my life for 44 years of being able to cope, councel, and help everyone else. Now when people go "you must feel so much better" I don't Kyle. I've gained almost 18 lbs so now I know I have to do a diet on top of depriving myself of cigarette's. Last night my Aunt who quit 20 years ago e-mailed me to say they found a tumor on her lung, its her own fault cause she used to smoke. I told her to give herself a break, everyone smoked when she did, it was a normal thing, not a health issue. Makes for a very sad and confusing night tonight.

I feel pretty good about 43 days, but I eagerly await the day when I stop feeling like bitch-slapping everyone who comes within my 3 feet of personal space. It IS getting better, but my skin is still crawling and all the little hairs are still on end. Maybe this is the price of cold turkey after five days of nicotine patches ... Brad

Valid point. All I know is that not having the option of smoking in a bar, nor having people around me who actively are smoking, will go a long ways towards helping "casual" smokers like myself kick the habit for good.

I think, or hope, that people are smart enough to know the difference between acceptable uses of legislative power (i.e. a smoking ban) vs. unacceptable legislation (i.e. a ban on black people).

God speed young Kyle.

I'm pretty sure that smoking dehydrates you as well. And dehydration is basically what causes hangovers, so it all adds up, my friend.

I'm proud of you, champ!
