Day 10 - The Joys of Not Smoking
We played some trivia last night at La Merde (Attached to Portland’s Famous Montage Restaurant), and I was ready to choke the shit out of my favorite amputee friend, mostly because he was chain smoking at a rate I had never seen him do, which is comparable to how I smoked. But then…I decided to tough it out. That makes it that much closer to my goal of acting like a non-smoker.
And of course, I took not a single drag, tempted though I was. I also recognized how fell smoke smells. Not the freshly lit cigarette, that smells fabulous, but the smoke that people blow out after it has been sitting in their lungs. That smells nasty.
I was doing good today, but had a few ironic rough points. For some reason, either my ISP, my firewall, the router, or my own damn PC is doing some weird DNS caching KyleQuits.com, and www.kylequits.com comes up as cannot be found in my office. I was ready to light one up just trying to figure that out.
Nicole brought down some sunflower seeds for me, and I managed to half fill another 20z coffee cup with their remains. I also down two mochas, which I guess could be called progress. I could also call it progress if I stabbed myself in the eyeballs everytime I was tempted to smoke, but I just ain’t gonna do that yet.
I also joined a “quitting smoking” forum. Its like a geeky online AA, except without the free coffee and chain smoking.
