Kicking The Habit & Hating It - Day 2

Note- This entry is retroactively posted

It’s been over 48 hours since my last cigarette, and I’m feeling it. Waves of anger and frustration sweep over me as my nicotine deprived body cries out for the death stick.

My girlfriend and I are drove up to Seattle from Portland to visit my brother and see an old friend. I always chain smoke on road trips, particularly when driving up the interstate at night. The prospect of traveling without smoking scares the hell of me. It was obvious how badly I wanted a cigarette by the erratic and angered way I was driving. Nicole told me “you always drive like a cautious old man, right now, your driving is scaring me. I had some gum to chew, and that was about it. How did I last?
Later on, I met up with Nathan, and we went for drinks in downtown Seattle. Even though I’m against smoking bans in principle, I was glad that there was no smoking in the bars. It helped reduce the temptation. Still, walking by people smoking on the sidewalk, the sweet smell of a cigarette wafting into my nostrils…ouch. I started getting rather drunk, which is dangerous, since I wanted a smoke like nothing else. But instead, I started chewing on straws.

I went to bed feeling pretty good about myself. I didn’t smoke, but I still got drunk.

that was a scary drive, indeed. You looked so cracked out you belonged on burnside hustling for another hit.
But-you did have some stressful situations:
    1. Waiting for my monkey ass to get off work and then not be completely ready, running in/out of the apartment retrieving items for said trip.
    2. Leaving ATM card in machine
    3. Forgetting foot pump for desired air mattress…
    4. Picking up desired air mattress at Fred Meyers, all in all these events delayed us by 1 hour.
    You did good considering!
